Chelsea already has the perfect £55m signing welcome present for Enzo Maresca
Enzo Maresca Set to Join Chelsea with Long-Term Vision
Leicester boss Enzo Maresca is reportedly finalizing a long-term contract to become Chelsea’s next head coach. Backed by Todd Boehly and his team, Maresca will benefit from strong financial support as Chelsea continues its strategy to recruit top young talent from around the globe.
Financial Support Despite Challenges
Maresca will be encouraged by the fact that, despite concerns about Chelsea’s financial situation and compliance with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, a major signing has already been secured.
Youth Revolution at Chelsea
Chelsea’s focus on youth development has seen them win the race against several Champions League clubs to sign Brazilian prodigy Estevao Willian. The 17-year-old winger, who has been touted as the next big talent from South America, is set to join Chelsea. Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira confirmed this last week, expressing admiration for Estevao’s skills and hinting at the substantial transfer fee involved.
“Regarding Estevao and values, sometimes I’m afraid to speak publicly about what I think of players because I’m never sure what’s going to happen in football,” Ferreira told ESPN Brasil. “Yes, I can’t change what I’ve already said. I think he’s a player who seems to have the ball stuck to his foot and does different things. What can I say? One year selling Endrick to Real Madrid and another now, although nobody has confirmed anything to me, to be honest.”
Ferreira added his concerns about Chelsea potentially taking more of his players or staff, hoping that the club would leave them be after this major signing.
Dubbed ‘Messinho,’ Estevao will officially join Chelsea next year when he turns 18. Chelsea has agreed to an initial fee of £29 million, which could rise to £55 million with add-ons.
Maresca’s Role and Future Talents
Although Maresca won’t work directly with Estevao in his first season at Stamford Bridge, he will have an elite talent waiting in the wings. Estevao joins other young Brazilians like Andrey Santos and Deivid Washington, who are currently on loan at Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club. Additionally, Ecuadorian wonderkid Kendry Paez is another exciting prospect who will join Chelsea after his 18th birthday next year.
The Clearlake ownership group is amassing an impressive array of young talent, which Maresca could potentially unleash. Unlike his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino, Maresca is expected to receive a much longer contract, indicating Chelsea’s commitment to a long-term vision rather than immediate results. The club hopes for a fruitful partnership that could see Maresca thrive with stars like Estevao, Paez, and current standout Cole Palmer.
